Find Your Business Purpose As A Blogger
Business purpose – finding your business purpose can seem like a worthless exercise when you just want to jump in and start making money but this is what will differentiate you from your competition. It will give you direction and create trust.
You need to establish your big “why”.
What is my “why”?
Many people think they are starting a business just to make money. If this is you, then you shouldn’t be starting a business. It won’t be a success. Your audience will never build a deep meaningful relationship with you if that is the only reason you’re in business and to be honest you will never build one with them. The answer to this question really answers “why you care”.
This does mean being honest with ourselves and putting it out there for everyone to see. At first glance this can seem too difficult. You may find it uncomfortable or embarrassing but unfortunately you have bigger things to think about that what other people will think about you. It is a necessary step in creating a successful business so just get over it.
How do I identify my business purpose?
If you have already read Volume 2: Three Tips to Find Your Niche then you will already know who you will be serving and to get to that decision you didn’t just pluck it out of thin air. If you haven’t read volume 2 then read it here.
So the question you need to answer is why do you want to serve these people?
This is how you reach your inner core value. This will give you the strength to do what is needed at times when you could be doing anything else in the world. It’s what you are happy to trade time and energy for. That is your business purpose. It’s the reason I’m writing this for you guys now instead of doing anything else in the world. I know it makes me happy adding value to the people who need it.
So if you’re still answering this question saying “for the money” then go back to the drawing board and figure it out. Money is just a way for people to trade. It’s the oldest commodity going and shouldn’t be your guiding star to building your business.
